At the end of the first level, the student will have acquired an understating and awareness of self as an individual, as a member of the family, the community and the world with emphasis on his responsibilities, rights and an awareness of his/her physical, social and cultural milieu.
Specifically, the student will:
- acquire a deeper understanding of himself, his physical, social and cultural environment;
- identify the various roles he will play as a member of the family , community and society at large;
- recognize his duty in improving quality of life not only for himself but for others as well;
- interpret and evaluate what he hears and reads as well as express his feelings and ideas effectively both in oral and written forms;
- acquire a broader and deeper grasp of the ordinary and the uncommon;
- develop a deeper awareness of rights, duties and responsibilities to his country and the world;
- apply the scientific method whenever possible to his activities;
- show appreciation of the nursing heritage as well as his role as a prospective member of nursing profession;
- demonstrate moral and personal qualities in daily living and in the performance of nursing work; and
- analyze the use of the nursing process, as a core activity.
B. Level II At the end of the Second Level, the student will have acquired a holistic understanding of man as a bio-psycho-socio-cultural being focusing on the concepts of health, common stresses of life, responsibility as a citizen through knowledge of his political, historical, social institution such as the family, health care system, and finally the nursing profession. Beginning skills in the use of the nursing process as basic of health care delivery.
Specifically, the student will:
- identify the facts contributing to the health and well-being of the individual, family and community;
- describe the health care delivery systems;
- demonstrate ethical, moral values in daily living and beginning nursing activities;
- demonstrate beginning skill in the use of the nursing process and problem solving;
- recognize various artistic expressions of man’s experience;
- acquire a deeper understanding of man as a bio-psycho-socio-cultural being;
- show understanding of the cultural and socio-economic history of the Philippines in relation to other Asian countries; and
- acquire knowledge of the relationship between the epidemiological factors as they man.
Phase II
C. Level III
At the end of the third level, the student shall acquire broad concepts of illness from the physical, social, epidemiological, economical and cultural perspective. Knowledge of pathological process, coping techniques of individuals, family and community are emphasized a essential components of the nursing process.
Specifically, the student will:
- analyze the socio-economic and cultural factors in relation to the occurrences of illness or disease conditions;
- relate to patient care the pathological changes brought about by stresses, illness and others;
- apply the nursing process to more complex health situation;
- promote health and prevent illness through the utilization of the different nursing procedures previously learned;
- institute health teaching strategies to help create a therapeutic environment for client, family and community;
- strive to continue affirming the dignity and worth of man through the provision of supportive and comfort measure to patient, family and community at all times and even when death is inevitable;
- communicate effectively with members of the health team an other allied professionals;
- get more acquainted with the concepts of micro-economics and its impact on health;
- understand the political system of the Philippine government and its influence on health care delivery;
- utilize the different techniques of enabling the patient, family and community to cope with illness and death; and
- initiate beginning collaborative functions for effective utilization of resources for health care.
D. Level IV At the end of the Fourth Level, the student shall establish collaboration with others in the promotion of health and prevention and control of illness in various settings at various level of man’s development.
Specifically, the student will:
- demonstrate ability to work interdependently with members of the health teams and allied groups;
- acquire skills, knowledge and attitude necessary for independent beginning nursing practice;
- initiate nursing measures on her own incase of emergency crisis and the like, where the physician is not immediately available;
- apply methods of research related to nursing and the utilization of research findings;
- apply management leadership concepts and processes as needed;
- possess necessary attitude for his own personal and professional growth; and
- apply knowledge of the legal aspect of the nursing practice.
